I grew up in a middle class family.  We had an average house in an average neighborhood.  We always had food to eat and clothes to wear.  Once a year, we would take a vacation.  We drove to Florida and stayed with our Aunt for a week.  We weren't poor, but we weren't wealthy either, we were a middle class family.  My parents worked very hard to give our family what it needed.  Yes, that is an actual picture of us.  I'm the one in the middle with the red and white striped shirt on.

When I graduated from high school, I went to work as a carpenter framing houses.  I moved out of my parent's house and shared an apartment with a friend.  I was barely able to make enough money to live on, much less afford any type of luxury items.  I knew there had to be more.  I wanted more.  I got an additional job working night shift at UPS.  I was working 12-16 hours per day and still not making nearly the amount of money I wanted.

After three years of working construction and UPS, I decided that I needed to do something different.  I decided to go to college at the University of Louisville.  This was a huge decision for me.

I knew that in order to get out of my rut, I had to choose to do something different.

I graduated from college and went to work as an engineer.  Throughout my career as an engineer, there was always the voice in the back of my head; "There is still more!".  I was always questioning; "Why is that person living their dream and I'm not?".  It was frustrating to me to be working so hard and still not TRULY living the life I wanted.

Work was very stressful at times, especially with two children.  I was always shuffling them to daycare, school or the grandparents house and at the same time worrying about getting to work on time or staying late to get things done.  It seemed that I never had the time to do the things with my kids that I wanted to do.  I usually didn't get off work until at least 5:00 PM.  So by the time I picked up the kids and got home, it was after 6:00 PM.  By that time, I was relatively wore out from a stressful day of work and didn't have much energy left for anything else.  This continued for about 10 years.

I thought to myself; "There has to be another way!"  Thousands of people everyday are living their dreams".  I started researching and studying people to find out what I needed to do in order to live my dreams.  I came to the realization that my situation was the sum of my choices up to that point.

I knew I had to choose to do something different.  I had to take steps, take action, to make things different.  I discovered that most of the wealthiest people became that way through "Passive Income".  When I say wealthiest people, I'm talking about the people who started from nothing.

Passive Income is an income received on a regular basis, with little effort required to maintain it.  I thought to myself; "I want to make Passive Income!" "How can I make Passive Income?"  I didn't have any extra money to invest in anything.  I found that the internet is a great place to make Passive Income".

I started experimenting with different ways I could potentially make passive income.  I tried a bunch of different things.  I realized that it wasn't as easy as I thought it could be.  I Guess if it was easy, then everybody would be doing it.  After a couple of years experimenting, I discovered that an on-line store had the potential to make money.

I started my first on-line store with a friend of mine who owned a flea market.  We were able to sell items on the internet store that he was having trouble selling in his local market.  Now this store didn't set the world on fire, but I realized the potential of an on-line store.  We were getting sales at all hours of the day and night.  Essentially, we were making money while we were sleeping and on the weekends.

The first on-line store dealt with physical inventory.  I knew there had to be an easier way, a way in which no inventory had to be handled or dealt with.  I started researching drop shipping.  There is an over-abundance of JUNK out there on drop shipping.

After getting frustrated with researching drop shippers on the internet, I started lining up my own suppliers that would drop ship for me.

There are steps to take to make an effective online store.  I started researching and studying how to make effective on-line stores.  I set up many experimental online stores.  I experimented and tested the best solutions to make online stores effective. 

You can have the best online store in the world, but if nobody visits the store, or isn’t compelled to purchase anything, you are just wasting time.  I’ve spend countless hours researching the best SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques for ecommerce.  I’ve also experimented with just about every type of shopping cart solution for ecommerce.

Over the last couple of years I have put together many successful online stores.  These stores usually start getting sales within a week after going live.  These stores continue to make a profit, generating sales every day.  I don’t invest any money up front for inventory.  My suppliers ship the products directly from their warehouse.  These stores work!  That’s why I decided on the name “Stores That Work”, because there are many out there that don’t work.
